Remember the Game

“Where do you go? What do you do? How do you survive?”

When a deadly virus ravages the country, Jane must find a way to survive and protect her two kids: six year old Beth and eleven year old, visually impaired Audrey. Separated from her husband, Jane is haunted by his final words before the networks went down: Remember the game!

They used to play The Game on long journeys: one of them would choose an apocalyptic situation and together they’d devise a survival plan, starting from that moment, wherever they were. Where do you go? What do you do? How do you survive?

Using their once hypothetical game plans as her only lifeline, Jane grapples with these questions as she faces impossible situations and figures out how to protect her daughters and keep them (and herself) alive.

I was interviewed by Louisa Guise for a local radio show heroing local writers in August 2026. We spoke about the inspiration behind the novel, discussed Albinism (the genetic condition that character eleven year old Audrey has in the novel) and I read out Chapter 1.
