Hi, I’m Amie

In my diary, when I was 16 I wrote a bucket list. Among various life hopes and dreams, was “Publish a book!!!”

I studied American Studies and English at university with the plan to become a journalist, but ended up in marketing instead. After a few years in brand management I specialised in social media and influencer marketing, speaking at industry events and working with brands such as O2, Disney, Penguin Random House, Scottish Widows and Mumsnet. For a time, I was even one of the lead presenters for Mumsnet’s social media content. And I had a blast.

But life is never straight forward. In the crazy that was 2020 and homeschooling our eldest through lockdowns, our second child was born and became a patient at Great Ormond Street. I took a step back from my marketing career while my partner kept a roof over our heads.

It was during this time, I started writing short stories and even a one-woman play. And then came the idea for a novel I couldn’t ignore.

It’s been over twenty years since I wrote that diary entry and finally I’ve given myself permission to try. So let’s see where it leads.

A still from a Facebook Live in 2018 that Amie was hosting for Mumsnet; she's interview Emily Leary (a who is smiling broadly as Amie is gesturing, smiling and mid-saying something. There are comments from viewers talking about their favourite meals.

I grew up moving around the world but have now settled in leafy Hertfordshire with my partner and our two kids. Some would say I have a concerning number of house plants, - those people aren’t my friends.

My first love is the theatre (especially musicals) but books seemed a cheaper hobby… how wrong I was! Sadly, my house doesn’t have a library bookshelf, but where there’s a will there’s a way!
